009: Love Power
Alone in the solitude of my room, I found myself consumed by the gravity of the situation. Rin, confined to her own space, surrounded by a multitude of dubious doctors attempting to mend the fragments of her shattered memory. Hiroshi, stripped of his primary means of engagement, no longer armed with the lens that captured our journey. Fueled by an intensified resolve to conquer Akuma and the desperate yearning to restore Rin to her former self, I made a resolute decision—to embark once more on a pilgrimage to the enigmatic wise woman dwelling in that ancient temple.
Arriving at the temple I found its ambiance to be serene, with a soft glow illuminating the room. The scent of incense wafted through the air, and the gentle hum of a distant chant could be heard. With my heart pounding, I explained the dire situation to Reina, the wise woman. My voice trembled as I spoke of the battle with Akuma, and the menacing shadow that now loomed over my friends’ compromised lives.
Reina listened intently, her eyes reflecting a depth of understanding that was immeasurable. “To face a demon of Akuma’s magnitude,” she began, “you must delve deep into ancient teachings and harness a power that lies dormant within you.”
I could feel my eyes widening in desperation. “I just don’t know what to do! He seems so powerful.”
Reina, with a calmness that seemed to permeate the very air around them, gestured for me to sit. “Close your eyes,” she instructed. “We will stop time itself.”
I obeyed, sitting quietly. At first, my mind was all over the place. It felt like a waste of time, just sitting there. I found myself wondering what Rin was up to, wishing we were out looking for sushi or shopping.
But then I felt a stillness envelop me. It was as if the world had paused, and all that remained was the silent connection between Reina and me. We sat, our breath still, frozen in a moment that seemed to stretch into eternity. Yet, we communicated effortlessly, our thoughts intertwining in a dance of understanding.
“Find the silent field within you,” Reina’s voice echoed in my mind.
To my surprise, the silence was easy to find, almost as if it had been waiting for me all along. It was vast, endless, and comforting.
“Now,” Reina continued, “think of something, someone you love.”
My thoughts drifted to Hiroshi. His mysterious demeanor, his strength. But as I delved deeper, I realized that while I was fond of him, it wasn’t love. My mind then wandered to Rin, my childhood companion, my confidante. Memories of our shared laughter, tears, and adventures flooded me, and my heart swelled with a warmth that was unmistakably love.
“Feel the love,” Reina urged. “Let it grow, let it fill you.”
I surrendered to the emotion, allowing it to wash over me, strengthening me from within. The power I felt was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
When Reina instructed me to open my eyes, the world I saw was transformed. The temple, already a place of beauty, now shimmered with an ethereal glow. Everything sparkled, radiating a deep, profound love. It was as if I was seeing the world for the first time, every object, every particle, pulsating with life and love.
Reina’s voice, gentle yet firm, broke her reverie. “You see, Kurai, everything is love. Even in the darkest corners, love exists.”
My thoughts suddenly raced back to Rin and Hiroshi, and the looming threat of Akuma. “But what about the demon?” I questioned, doubt creeping into my voice.
Reina’s gaze was unwavering. “Take this love to him. For there’s more to Akuma’s story than you know. And love has the power to unveil truths that have long been hidden.”
I nodded, and allowed determination to replace the doubt that was trying to take hold in my mind. Armed with this newfound power, I felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.
